A wee fact I found out today - the actress Claire King has Rheumatoid Arthritis and was diagnosed 13 years ago. It got me thinking I wonder what other famous folk are living with it as it's not something we hear talked about compared to other conditions apart from amongst ourselves???

Claire King boasted a while ago that RA never stopped her dancing or doing anything - she simply put mind over matter. There`s a thread on here somewhere about her spouting how clever she is.

Pam Ayres (poet, entertainer) and Ainsley Herriot have RA.

Yes, she was on Daybreak

Kathleen's right she did cause a stir on here about having RA. She also did a newspaper article that seemed to be her promoting some sort of lotions and potions for RA, even putting up a phone number and web site address in the article.

Whilst I thought the interview was good, the text on the bottom of the screen said that 10 million people suffer for arthritis and they were talking about RA and not OA. Dr Hilary did say this, but I wonder how many people with OA will be making appointments with their GP's for MTX or one of the other drugs, thinking that if it's good for RA why can't I have it for their arthritis.

Hi Kathleen, Paula, Deb and Suzanne

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious really and wondered if any of them did any charity work for NRAS but couldn't find any info on that. I was most surprised to hear about Bob Mortimer as he is an old favourite of mine and I didn't have a clue.

Hope you are all doing well with the Autumn upon us now.

Hi folks

The novelist Martina Cole has it too and has done for years, she thinks she may have written her last book but will just have to concentrate on writing short stories now as her condition has done irreversible damage to her finger joints. I am just back to work today after 2 weeks off and my arms and legs feel like they belong elsewhere. Roll on bedtime.
